The past few days have seen us with really great weather, and my friends and I all agreed that it was a good idea to head out of town for a short holiday. The place he was suggesting was about an hour’s drive from where we were in the city and it was already earning good reviews from previous visitors, but only later did we find out that Fred had done some background checks. There were many choices for different kinds of visitors, such as wake boarding and zip lining for the adrenalin junkies and fishing and canoeing for the idyllic types. We soon learned that the reason Fred was so keen on the place even when none of us was familiar was because the directions to it was quite easy to follow. There were enough lawn signs along the way which led us to the exact location of the resort. We expected to have to pay too much, but amazingly the prices were reasonable for the superior amenities and great service that they offered. To top it all off, there was a restaurant that served really tasty food at great prices. I could say the place was already well-developed and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the place to be for families and friends to hang out in before long.

My fancy on different operating systems has made me do some experiments on some of their flavors that I really like such as Windows, Mac, which has different versions or releases and Linux, which is also consists of different variants such as the Fedora, Debian and the famous one, Ubuntu. However, there is one operating system which I would really like to try; these specific operating system is mainly run on mainframes, supercomputers, dedicated servers and other machines that require high speed and heavy computations, this was also one of the ancestors of the operating systems and it was used during the World war in military operations; yes, this one is called Unix. Some people really admired the capabilities of this operating system, Unix, but then it only runs on big computers at that time and are very dissatisfied with their current desktop operating systems so they got some libraries and wrote their own code and created their own operating system mimicking the capabilites of Unix but runs on their desktops, thus the birth of Linux made by the brilliant Linus Torvalds. Linux is an open source operating system that is distributed by different distributors thus making it their different flavors; it is also made for development and research for those who are fanatics of operating systems as well since you can manipulate it whenever you want it, just some lines and script on the terminal and you can change your kernel whenever you want to. The operating system developed by the growing company, Apple, has developed a more or less the same version of a Unix based system, one can run a lot of things in the mac terminal server; however, one cannot manipulate or change the kernel of the operating system since it is not open source. Having an experience on these operating systems I have mentioned above, if you are just a simple user, go for Windows; if you want a stable one with different freebies, go for Mac; but if you are the geek type, there is no operating system that would suit you best but Linux.
